Hector's Birth Record

According to a variety of sources, Hector McLean was born in Edinburgh, Midlothian, Scotland on October 24, 1833.  After a long, drawn out search, I was able to find him in the South Leith parish records on microfilm (FHL British Film #1067776).              

It appears that he was the illegitimate son of Agnes Hunter.  Here's the record. 

 

Hector was known as Hector McLean all of his adult life.
